Abstract

Stable anaesthetic solutions for injection which are free from the secondary toxic effects due to the use of adrenalin in the usual preparations are prepared by using 3 : 4-dihydroxyphenylethanolamine as the vaso-constricting agent. According to an example the aqueous solution contains hydrochloride of para-aminobenzoyl-diethylamino-ethanol, sodium chloride, potassium sulphate, and hydrochloride of 3 : 4-dihydroxy-phenylethanolamine. Acetone bisulphite may also be added. Specification 439,168 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 contains additional examples relating to solutions containing (1) hydrochloride of para-butylamino-benzoyl-dimethylamino-ethanol, sodium chloride and the vaso-constrictor, and (2) para-amino-benzoyl-dimethylamino-methyl-butanol, sodium chloride and the vaso-constrictor. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
