Abstract

551,705. Furs. AMERICAN HATTERS & FURRIERS CO., Inc. Sept 16, 1941, No. 11855. Convention date, May 6. [Class 76] A carroting solution for treating furs consists of an aqueous solution of sulphuric acid, chloric acid, nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide, containing 70 per cent. by weight as much nitric acid as hydrogen peroxide, an amount of sulphuric acid equal to the chloric acid and between 136 per cent and 229 per cent. as much chloric acid as hydrogen peroxide. A relatively strong solution having the above proportions may be prepared so that the quantities of ingredients are within the following ranges, sulphuric acid 1.3 to 5.4 per cent. chloric acid 1.3 to 5.4 per cent. nitric acid 0.7 to 1.7 per cent. hydrogen peroxide 1.0 to 2.4 per cent., and this may be diluted with water to give various strengths for treating different furs. Specification 477,796 is referred to.
