Abstract

The decomposition of 4 : 41-dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane while in contact with iron or steel, or iron in combination, is inhibited by adding sulphuric acid. The dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane should preferably be molten and at least 70 per cent pure. The quantity of concentrated sulphuric acid used may range from 0.1 to 5 per cent, but is preferably 0.2 to 0.3 per cent. Specification 601,886 is referred to.
