Abstract
569,146. Carrotting fur. AMERICAN HATTERS & FURRIERS CO., Inc. Aug. 26, 1943, No. 13956. Convention date, June 21. Addition to 551,705. [Class 76] In the carrotting solution described in the parent Specification, the ingredients are present in amounts not less than the following : 0.5 per cent sulphuric acid, 1.0 per cent chloric acid, 0.5 per cent nitric acid, 1.0 per cent hydrogen peroxide. The concentrations and relative proportions of the ingredients are varied according to the type of fur treated and its colour and condition, the method of application of the solution, the desired speed of shrinking in the felting process, and the required quality of felt. Examples are given of specific compositions for use with particular kinds of fur, the highest quantities referred to for the individual ingredients being 6 per cent sulphuric acid, 6 per cent chloric acid, 9 per cent nitric acid, and 15 per cent hydrogen peroxide.
