553,633. Treatment of grain. EVANS, C. H. Sept. 26, 1941, No. 12528. [Class 58] Insect-damaged wheat is treated with more than one gram of sodium chlorite per sack of 2801b. Roumanian wheat, for example, containing "wheat- Bug" damaged grain amounting approximately to 5 per cent is sprayed with, immersed in, or has otherwise added thereto a solution containing 2 grams of sodium chlorite per sack. Alternatively the dry powder may be mixed with the grain. The treatment may be effected before or after milling.
