Abstract
The Specification refers to the ferric complexes of 8-hydroxy quinolines containing water-solubilizing groups. Preparations of complexes are given in which a ferric ammonium citrate solution is added to 8-hydroxy-quinoline-5-sulphonic acid or 5;7-disulphonic acid dissolved in aqueous sodium hydroxide. The quinolines may contain other substituents such as chlorine atoms or alkyl, amino, nitroso, nitro or phenylazo groups, and the water-solubilizing group may be carboxy. 8-Hydroxyquinoline-5;7-disulphonic acid is prepared by adding 8-hydroxyquinoline to a stirred mixture of 65% oleum and 20% oleum.
