Catalytic agents, preparation and treatment of. -The regeneration of catalysts used in the conversion of carbonaceous materials or heavy hydrocarbons into light hydrocarbons is affected by treating them in the converter, and either during or after the conversion period, with a mixture of air and steam. The carbon and sulphur contaminating the catalyst are converted into oxides of carbon and hydrogen sulphide respectively.
