Actuating pumps by fluid-pressure motors.- Oscillating liquid columns I, m transmit power from the piston 5 of a driving machine to intermediate pistons 8, 10 which actuate the compressor pistons 11, 13 on their compression strokes. A coupling column III of liquid acts on the other sides of the pistons 8, 10 to effect the suction strokes. Pipes 15, 16, 17 deliver liquid to compensate for leakage in the columns. The coupling column may be at a lower pressure than the driving columns.
