Abstract
460,823. Lubricating-pumps. STEWART, C. E. June 5, 1936, No. 15805. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XXVI] A lubricating-pump comprises a number of chambers 1 bolted together and each containing a pump 3 actuated by eccentrics 44, 45. The eccentric 44 has a worm 43 meshing with a wormwheel 46 on eccentric 45 which is fixed to the shaft so that the eccentric 44 may be adjusted relatively to the eccentric 45 to vary the stroke of the pump. The shaft 4 is in sections and packings 17 are provided in the walls of the chambers. Pistons 7 connected to a rack 70 are subjected to the pressure at either end of a cylinder of a reciprocating engine. The stroke is adjustable by varying the position of the sleeves 6. The rack 70 rocks a pinion 56 which drives the shaft 4 through a one-way clutch 54. A hand wheel 4B is also connected to the shaft 4 through a one-way clutch 53.
