Abstract

1,142,642. Reciprocating pumps. H.E. PINKERTON. Feb.21, 1966, No.7588/66. Heading F1A. A pump diaphragm is oscillated hydraulically by a piston 70 reciprocating in a cylinder 38 provided with a relief valve 84 and on an axially adjustable member 72. The piston has recesses 82, 80 which relieve the pressure in the cylinder 38 at the ends of the stroke, adjustment of the member 72 defining the point of release of the pressure in the cylinder and hence the stroke of the diaphragm. The arrangement is such as to release air trapped in the cylinder to the reservoir 34. The piston 70 is reciprocated by a scotch yoke 50 driven through gearing 26 by a motor 24. A stroke indicator 74 is provided.
