Stop-motions; tension-arrangements.-A machine for winding yarns wherein a member k, Figs. 1 and 2, always in driving connection with a spindle l, is movable on undue increase in yarn tension firs't out of engagement with the driving wharl m and then into contact with a brake surface, comprises an arm c carrying a pulley d or like guide and adapted to be moved on undue tension in the yarn to turn cams a and lift rods h which move the member k out of engagement with the wharl m and then into contact with braking surfaces n. Only one cam a may be provided if desired. The brake surfaces n are mounted on a bar o and are movable against springs s, while a spiral spring t, secured to collars u, wand having a projecting end t<1>, is provided on the rod e whereby the cams a and arm c may be initially loaded. The device is particularly adapted for use with spindles of the type described in Specifications 2335/10 and 196,498.
