Abstract
277,655. Bernales, H. de. Sept. 14, 1926, [Convention date]. Working-fluid supply; cooling parts.-A gas turbine comprises a pocketed stator and a pocketed rotor; the stator pockets are provided with admission valves 12 which are opened when a rotor pocket reaches a corresponding stator pocket, the explosion taking place when the pockets are facing one another, and with exhaust and scavenging air valves 14, 13 which are opened when the rotor pocket has passed. The stator pocket next in front is then opened to the admission. The valves are actuated by cam discs 18, 19 on the rotor shaft. Compressors 29, 27 supply the mixture and scavenging air to manifolds 28<a>, 28, 26, 25 feeding the valve chambers. To prevent the compressed mixture opening the admission valves 12 there are provided valves 12<a> opened by projections 12<b> on the stems of the former valves. The rotor is cooled by water which passes through ports 7 in the side walls to a casing 8 whence it is withdrawn by a circulating pump 11. A thermo-siphon cooling arrangement is provided for the stator.
