Abstract

422,107. Rotary engines. KRUCK, H., 20, Fehrenstrasse, Zurich, Switzerland. July 16, 1934, No. 20791. Convention date, June 7. [Class 110 (ii)] A rotary internal-combustion engine comprises a rotor 4 which does not contact with the casing bore G, and mechanically-operated abutment slides 7 which divide the engine into four working chambers each having inlet and exhaust valves 16, 17 and a sparking plug 18. Gears 8 are keyed to the shaft 3 on each side of the rotor web 6, and mesh with pinions 9 mounted in the casing walls between segmental box-shaped members 2b. Cranks 11 couple the pinion 9 and slides 7. The slides have a series of L-shaped packing plates spring- pressed axially and radially. Sealing rings 15 are provided. In place of the gears, eccentrics and cranks may actuate the slides. The engine may operate on the four-stroke or twostroke cycle. In the manufacture of the rotor a cutting tool following the movements of a slide 7 may be used. Cooling water circulates through jackets 4<a> from the hollow shaft 3.
