It is in two parts a with flanges b in the plane of the cylinder axis. Transfer passages f and corrugations j and crankshaft bearings are formed on it and exhaust passages h secured to it. The extension of the divided casing may constitute the cylinder barrel. Specifications 122,451, [Class 80 (ii), Gearing, Variable - speed &c.], and 122,452, [Class 35, Dynamo-electric generators &c.], are referred to.
