Rotary cylindrical valves. - In an internalcombustion engine a rotary tubular inlet and exhaust valve a, b of the kind which works over a tube c divided longitudinally into inlet and exhaust compartments d, c, is mounted within the combustion chambers h so as to be surrounded by the gases and to be balanced. The valve may serve one or several cylinders. The valve consists of two shells a, h, formed with corresponding openings a', b<1>, united by groups of ferrules a<2>. These ferrules form the valve ports which register with inlet and exhaust ports d<1>, e' in the tube c. The annular space between the shells a and b serves for the circulation of cooling water through the valve.
