Cylinders, construction of, and cooling.-The combustion chamber b<3> is formed in the cylinder cover b, so that it can be machined, it is wider than the bore of the cylinder, and the valves c, d are so situated that they cannot fall into the cylinder. The piston .travels beyond the end of the cylinder barrel. The water jackets of the cylinder and its cover are connected together by an external pipe g, and the studs b which secure the cover pass through tubes h<1> which traverse the jacket a'. Leakage of water from the jackets into the cylinder is thus avoided. Specification 3947/15, [Class 7 (vi), Internal-combustion engines, Valves &c. for], is referred to.
