559,833. Twin-cylinder air-cooled internal combustion engines. TRIUMPH ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and HOPWOOD, H. Feb. 3, 1943, No. 1817. [Class 7 (ii)] A twin-cylinder air cooled internal combustion engine of the side-valve type, particularly for motor cycles, has a twincylinder block a formed with cooling fins c and with a fuelinduction passage d running transversely between the cylinders b, the end e of the passage being connected to a carburetter and the other end being branched to lead to adjacent inlet valves m of the two cylinders. The central part of the passage is preferably of elliptical or other non-circular cross section. Exhaust passages h lead to separate exhaust pipes. The cylinder head i with cooling fins j extends over both cylinders and provides combustion spaces k. The cylinder block includes chambers o closed by cover-plates p which give access to the tappets s and valve springs r.
