Abstract
407,675. Cooling cylinders. KRUPP AKT.-GES., F., Essen, and KUCHEN, E., 34, Im Stillen Winkel, Essen, Germany. Sept. 14, 1932, No. 25570. [Class 7 (ii).] A multi-cylinder engine, having opposed pairs of cylinders 2 with longitudinal ribs, is cooled by the air current of a blower on the crank-shaft, air being directed by casings 10, 11 towards the heads which have ribs 25 integral with casings 26 and adjacent the exhaust valves 24, and smaller ribs 27 adjacent the inlet valves 23. The cylinders are arranged horizontally and deflector plates 21, 22 guide part of the air current to the far sides at the cylinder bases which are devoid of ribs. Inlet and exhaust pipes 28, 29 are connected as shown.
