423,717. Cooling cylinders. GABRIELSON, J. B., 49, Brõnnkyrkagatan, Stockholm. Aug. 18, 1934, No. 23896. [Class 7 (ii)] In an air - cooled side-valve engine, a sheetmetal duct 12, receiving air from a blower supplies the air through ports 16 to a passage 25, in the cylinder block leading to the cylinder jacket, and through ports 18 to the head jacket. The ports 16 are arranged over the exhaust pipes and further ports 20 are adjacent the valve seats, but the top of the passage 25 may be flush with the top of the cylinder block, the ports 20 then being omitted. Ribs 6, 7, in the direction of air flow, are provided. An additional air duct 21 may have ports 22, 23 arranged between, and opposite the centre-lines of respective cylinders.
