Abstract

1,110,453. Air cooled cylinders. DIESELMOTORENWERK SCHONEBECK VEB. July 19, 1965, No. 30596/65. Heading F1B. The cooling fins on air-cooled engine cylinders are flattened on their juxtaposed sides 5 and a common guide wall 12 with an inlet opening 13 and exhaust openings 11 surrounds the cylinders, the heat-exchanging surface of the fin portions 3 on the cooling air intake side being equal to, or less than, 65% of the surface of the fin portions 7 on the exhaust side. The cooling air may be supplied by a blower 1. The fins may be slotted and the thickness of the cylinder wall may vary along the circumference and along the axis of the cylinder.
