Abstract

971,560. Air-cooled internal-combustion engines. GES. FUR LINDE'S EISMASCHINEN A.G. June 7, 1962 [June 9, 1961], No. 22023/62. Heading F1B. In an air-cooled engine the intake manifold 6 is provided with a flange 8 which defines a wall of the passage 12 conducting the cooling air away from the cylinders. The bottom wall of the manifold 6 is flat and forms a continuation of the flange 8, the whole flat surface forming the upper wall of the cooling air escape passage 12. The side walls 9 of the passage are suspended from the manifold and are continued past the sides of the cylinder block 3 to guide the air flow from blower 5 past the cylinders. The bottom wall 10 of the passage 12 is secured to a flange 11 of the crankcase.
