Abstract
737,159. Construction and cooling of two-stroke engines. OSPELT, G. Dec. 22, 1953 [Jan. 27, 1953], No. 35627/53. Class 7(2). In a two-stroke V- engine having cooling water spaces 41 in the engine casing surrounding the exhaust ducts 13 and serving to conduct the cooling water to the cylinder cooling spaces, a cooling water pump 20 is located at one end of the engine on a cover plate 16 for the engine crankcase and the pump suction duct 29 and discharge ducts 37, 38 leading to the spaces 41 are formed in the cover plate 16. The pump 20 is located on the shaft 21 of the radiator fan 22 and part of its housing is formed in the cover 16 and the other part by a member 26 attached thereto and serving to carry the bearings 27, 28 for the shaft 21. The pump suction conduit 29 is connected by a pipe 48 to a water-cooled lubricating oil cooler 30 and thence to the radiator 32. The engine is provided in the space between the cylinder banks 1, 2 with a fuel injection pump 3 and a scavenging air blower 4 having intake filters 5. A starter 42 is fixed on the side of the crankcase by clips 43.
