Abstract

452,232. Cooling cylinders. TSUJI, M., 12, Awoyama, Takagi-Cho, Akasaka-Ku, Tokio. July 9, 1935, No. 19651. [Class 7 (ii)] Engine cylinders are cooled by exhaust gas which, after being cooled in expansion chambers 5, pass through cylinder jackets 7 which are each divided into a number of separate passages by ribs 14. Air may be added to the gas by an impeller 9 and an injector nozzle 11, the amount being regulated by a valve 20. Aircooled ribs 15 may extend outside the jackets. The exhaust is cooled by the action of helical plates 4, of which the central portions are corrugated, and the outer portions are smooth.
