519,889. Cooling cylinders. FAIRBROTHER, H. (Bayerische Motoren Werke Akt.-Ges.). Oct. 5, 1938, No. 28920. [Class 7 (ii)] In an air-cooled engine having several rows of cylinders, the spaces between successive rows are subdivided by partitions 1, 2, 3 into passages 14, 12, 15, 13, 16, 17 which alternatively increase and decrease, and through which cooling air is admitted and expelled respectively. In the V engine shown, the cylinders are surrounded by a casing 11. The application to a radial-cylinder engine is also described.
