Class 7(2) In a two-stroke engine for motor-cycles &c. the dividing wall 3 between paired cylinders 1, 2 having a common combustion chamber is cooled by sodium existing as liquid in passages 4 . . . 6,passing over as vapour into chambers 7, 8 and condensing on the outer finned walls thereof to return to the passages. The sodium is initially inserted in the solid form into the passages 4 . . . 6 which, together with the chambers 7, 8, are then sealed off by plugs as shown. The invention is applicable to an engine having a plurality of paired cylinders.
