Abstract

187,068. Simpson, R. J., and Lacey, C. S. E. Aug. 9, 1921. Valves.-A rotary valve comprises a sleeve C inside which is arranged, so as to rotate therewith, a tube D with flanges H forming annular gas-tight compartments within the sleeve. The sleeve C is formed with inlet ports K and exhaust ports J. The charge is admitted to the inside of the tube D and flows through ports D<1> to certain of the annular compartments, passing through the ports K to the cylinders. The exhaust enters other annular compartments and escapes by the ports J. In the multicylinder engine shown, the valve is formed in two parts united by dog-clutch connections F to a central member E, to which the charge is admitted through ports L. The driving-spindle P is formed with a flange O having dog-clutch connection to the sleeve C. Specification 153,360 is referred to.
