Two-stroke-cycle engines.-In a cross-connected engine having cylinders of two diameters, the inlet ports in the pump spaces are controlled by the pistons and open into a common supply passage E in which a fuel-spraying nozzle is located at E<1>. C<2>, C<3> are transfer pipes between the pumps and the combustion spaces. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the inlet ports to the pumps are uncovered by the pistons at the ends of the inward and outward strokes, thus enabling air to be drawn through the crank casing. If preferred, the trunk pistons may be lengthened so as to cover the inlet ports at the ends of the up-strokes. In this case, the air supply enters the passage E without traversing the crank casing. A choke tube may surround the fuel nozzle.
