Four-stroke-cycle engines. - Large and small pistons b<2>, d<1> in coaxial cylinders are connected directly and through return rods g to cranks at or about 180 degrees to each other. Each cylinder has a valve-chest j<1>, i' containing inlet and exhaust valves. On the suction stroke, air is drawn into the larger cylinder and mixture into the smaller cylinder, and on the compression stroke the mixture is forced into the centre of the air charge. Specification 1500/79 is referred to.
