Abstract
276,076. Avery, Ltd., W. & T., and Timson, W. May 19, 1926, Pendulum-weight apparatus. - In a weighing apparatus of the kind employing cam-like members suspended by flexible ribbons, the cam-like. members are grouped on the same side of the vertical plane passing through the respective axis, the peripheries of resistant-carrying camlike members and of cam-like members to which the load is applied are eccentrically disposed relative to their common axes, and the cam-like members co-opexating with the suspension ribbons are concentrically disposed relative, to the common axes, the displacement of the resistantcarrying cam-like members and of the load-transmitting cam-like members entailing a differential motion between the ribbons of the several sets of cam-like members whereby the movement of the resistant is reduced compared with the movement imparted by previous constructions. Two sets of cam-like members 9, 5, 17 are provided, each set being mounted on a spindle 23. The cam 9 may be adjusted relative to the remaining cams by means of screws 22. The pull due to the load placed on the usual platform is applied to a hook 20 and yoke 19 connected by flexible ribbons 18 to the cams 17. The cams 5 which are concentric with the spindles 23 are thus caused to roll up ribbons 6 until the cams assume a position where a resistant weight 14 suspended from the cams 9 balances the lead. The spindles 23 carry pivoted links 24, 25, 26 to which a vertical rack 27 is attached for driving indicating pointers 31 co-operating with evenly-graduated charts 32. The resistant weight 14 is connected to the flexible bands 10 through cushioning springs 15 to minimize shock due to sudden application or removal of the load.
