Pendulum-weight apparatus. - In a weighing machine employing a load-resistant of the rolling counterpoise type suspended by flexible bands so as to roll upon a fixed surface the counterpoise is balanced about its geometric axis, and motiontransmitting mechanism is interposed between the axis and the weight indicating mechanism to transmit the translatory movement of the counterpoise to the indicating mechanism. As shown in Fig. 1, the load-resistant comprises a roller 5 suspended by ribbons 8 so as to roll up a bracket 10. The load is applied by two ribbons 12 to cams 6 located at the ends of the drum, and the cams are balanced about the geometric axis 14 by a second pair of cams 6<a>. The cams 6, 6a may be situated between a pair of rollers 5. The axis 14 is connected by transmission mechanism to indicating and registering mechanism. In a modification, the cams roll upon the bracket 10 and the load is applied to the roller. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the pull due to the load acts in an upward direction on the cam 6. When two load-resistants are used as shown in Fig. 5, the axes of the rolling members 5 are connected by pivoted links 18 to a cross bar 19 which carries a rack 20 for actuating an indicating pointer 21. The rollers 5 may at a portion of their travel pull away slightly from the fixed rolling surfaces 17 as shown.
