772,644. Mounting bodies on railway vehicles. SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMOTIVUND MASCHINEN-FABRIK. May 27, 1955 [June 5, 1954], No. 15337/55. Class 103(6). A resilient mounting for the frame of a rail car on its axle boxes comprises for each axle box at least two rubber bodies for the transmission of vertical forces, one of these bodies being situated above the axle box while the other body is supported on a downwardly-directed extension of the axle box case and is loaded by means of a rigid bridge of the guiding yoke provided for the axle box. In the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the frame 3 of the rail car is supported on the axle box by means of two rubber bodies 4, 5, the upper body 4 being situated between the axle box case 1 and the frame sidebar, while the lower body 5 supports a bridge 8 secured to the axle holders 9 and is itself supported by a transverse member 7 screwed to side cheeks 6 of the axle box. In the construction shown in Fig. 4 the rubber bodies comprise pairs of rubber members secured at their outer ends to projections 13, 14 extending from the axle box, and at their inner ends to the car frame side bar 3a and to the bridge 8. The projections 13, 14 are connected by links, one above and one below the axle, to the axle holders for transmission of braking and other forces. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement in which the car frame is supported not only by the rubber blocks 4, 5 but also by helical springs 19, which are supported on the arms of a yoke 26 surrounding the axle box. Pins 27 carried by the car frame are slidably mounted in guide bushings 22 closed at the bottom and containing lubricating oil, the bushings being mounted in rubber sleeves 23 in cylindrical parts 20 of the yoke. The front and rear sides of the axle box are connected to the yoke 26 by rubber bodies 29, each of which consists of several layers of rubber with metal plates 30 between. Transverse movement between the axle and car frame is checked by means of four preloaded helical springs built into the yoke 26 and engaging abutments of the axle case.
