Abstract

928,941. Suspended vehicles. M. F. A. JULIEN, and USINES PAULSTRA. Sept. 25, 1959 [June 18, 1959], No. 32749/59. Class 103(4). A suspended railway vehicle body 4 Figs 2 and 3, is pivotally suspended from a bogie having wheels 3 by pairs of rods 12 1 , 13 1 , and 12 2 , 13 2 , each pair forming in eflect a linkage having the shape of a trapezium as viewed in Fig. 2, the sides of which converge to a point 0 located above a hollow girder 1 having tracks 2 on which-the wheels 3 run. Each rod is inwardly curved and passes through a slot 5 in the girder. The lower ends of the rods are pivoted to the body 4, below the upper wall 16 thereof, after prising through openings 16 0 therein. Near their upper ends rods 12 1 12 2 and 13 1 , 13 2 , are secured together by cross-members 14 whilst the upper ends are pivoted to a part 8 pivoted to a transverse horizontal shaft 15 on the lower portion a vertical pivot 7 passing through sleeves 6a, 6b in the bogie chassis 6. The upper portion of the pivot 7 is connected through an elastic ring 11 to a cross member 10 supported on the chassis 6 by springs 9, which may be mechanical, pneumatic or hydro-pneumatic. The crossmembers 14 are connected to the vehicle body 4 by crossed-over damping devices of known types, each having a cylinder 17 and a piston 18. The body 4 is suspended by a pair of suspensions; as described, spaced longitudinally of the vehicle and the cylinders of the damping devices at one end of the body may be connected to those at the other end by flexible conduits, as described with reference to Fig. 4 (not shown).
