Abstract

268,412. Boulting, W. A., and Williams, A. Dec. 5, 1925. Induction controllers.-For starting polyphase alternating current motors, inductance in the stator or rotor circuits is gradually reduced by withdrawing iron cores 4 from the inductance coils 3, and, on complete withdrawal of the cores, the coils are short-circuited so as to connect the motor windings directly to the supply. The cores may, as shown, be attached to a cross-bar 11 which is suspended by chains 12 to sprockets on a manually turned spindle 14. The cross-bar may carry switch contacts for shortcircuiting the coils. A latch 18 releasable by a no-volt magnet 20 may retain the cross-bar in its raised position.
