Abstract
294,966. Gize, J. Aug. 2, 1927, [Convention date]. Alternating - current induction machines.- For facilitating the starting of an induction motor, the rotor con- <sists> of two parts f, f<1> carrying windings p, p' with short - circuiting rings z, z<1> connected together by flexible conductors c, the two parts of the rotor being relatively displaced by an angle of 180 electrical degrees as shown in Fig. 2 at the commencement of the starting operation so that the induced currents flows through starting resistances r, r<1>; as the speed increases, the rotor parts are adjusted gradually, preferably by means of centrifugally operating devices, until they assume the position shown in Fig. 1, in which position no current flows through the resistances r, r'. The return of the movable part to the displaced position is effected during retardation by means of springs. The rotor may be phase wound in which case, the number of flexible connectors is reduced e.g. to three in the case of a three-phase winding. Specification 9534/00 is referred to.
