Abstract
396,259. Induction machines. DOREY, E. W., Avenue Chambers, Vernon Place, Southampton Row, London. Dec. 23, 1932, No. 32563. [Class 35.] In a motor having an auxiliary primary winding with a series connected condenser, this auxiliary circuit is conductively connected to the supply during starting but is short-circuited for normal operation. In the form shown, the terminals 4, 5 of the auxiliary circuit 2, 3 are connected across the main winding 1 or a portion thereof during starting but are subsequently disconnected from winding 1 and connected together directly as shown in Fig. 4 which represents the primary of a threephase machine. The change may be effected by a centrifugal switch or a mechanism dependent on the magnitude or phase of the current in the main or auxiliary winding, and the auxiliary circuit may also include an inductance or resistance. The main and auxiliary windings may be in the same or different slots.
