Spray carburettors. - The parent Specification describes a carburettor having a venturi-shaped diffuser a with throttle valve b on the engine side of its throat c, a tube d of relatively large diameter discharging into the diffuser near to but between the throat and the throttle valve, the tube being in communication at its other end with a venturi f to which fuel is supplied from a tank e through a tube g, and a slow running tube such as h which leads from the bottom of the tank e to the engine side of the throttle valve b. The invention consists in connecting such tube h either to a suction chamber f<1> of the venturi f, Fig. 1, or to the large tube d at a point near the diffuser and where the tube is reduced in diameter as at d<1>, Fig. 3. Further, in either of these constructions the fuel tube g is provided with a series of holes g<1>, g<2>, g<3>, &c., Fig. 2, which may open into a pipe g<a> in communication with the atmosphere. As the level in the tank falls, the height through which fuel has to be lifted by suction increases, but the fall of level opens up an increasing number of inlets for air which has the compensating effect of reducing the weight of the fuel column.
