Abstract

435,768. Spray-carburetters. JACOBY, H. E., 9, Hofstrasse, Wetzikon, and NUSSLI, H., 9, Bahnhofstrasse, Hinwil, both in Switzerland. March 27, 1934, No. 9561. [Class 7 (iii)] A valve 8 loaded by a spring 9 and movable under the action of suction in a choke-tube 6, is formed with a hollow stem 10 slidable on a tubular member 11 at the upper end of which is a chamber 18. This chamber is open to atmosphere through a pipe a with constriction x, and a pipe b from float chamber 19 opens into chamber 18 at a point above the fuel level, the pipe being provided with a constriction z. The valve 8 carries a needle valve 16 to control the flow of fuel through a nozzle 17 and also the degree of vacuum transmitted to chamber 18 through duct 13, member 11 and nozzle 17. Air enters at 2. The abutment 14 for spring 9 may serve as a dashpot. To ensure a sufficient vacuum in chamber 18 during idling, the chamber may be placed in communication with the induction passage beyond throttle valve 4 by a pipe c with constriction y. In a modification, the needle valve is dispensed with and the chamber 18 communicates with the narrowest section of the choke tube 6 as well as with the parts shown in the Figure.
