Abstract
462,106. Starting oil engines. BOSCH AKT.-GES., R. Aug. 24, 1936, No. 23169. Convention date, Sept. 6, 1935. [Classes 7 (iii) and 7 (v)] A starting carburetter, put into action by movement of a butterfly valve G which cuts off the normal air inlet C, comprises a fuel container J disposed below a well 6 through which projects upwards an open fuel nozzle tube 7 terminating within a tubular extension 3 of a spring-pressed valve 2. The valve controls a contracted portion of a casing K, which houses the valve and a heating coil H above it and is provided below the valve with air inlets. A calibrated passage 41 in a plug 4 at the top of the tubular extension 3 permits air drawn through the member to lift fuel from the nozzle tube 7, and as the suction raises the valve 2 secondary air flows around the tubular member 3 and past the valve 2, the supply of mixture continuing until the container J is emptied. The nozzle tube 7 communicates through a passage 10 with a conduit 15<1> in a rotary valve 11 and the conduit 15<1> opens through a passage 15 into the container J, air being admitted thereto through a conduit 161 and passage 16. On rotation of the valve 11, the passages 10, 15 and 16 are cut off and a passage 17 communicating with the overflow of the oil filter is connected to the container J, which fills to a level determined by an overflow passage simultaneously connected to the return pipe leading to the fuel tank.
