Abstract

388,577. Spray carburetters. SCHMID, K., 3, Bayernallee, Charlottenburg, Berlin. March 10, 1932, No. 7225. Convention date, Aug. 25, 1931. [Class 7(iii).] In carburetters of the type in which the float chamber is connected with the outer air'and with the intake tube in the vicinity of the throttle aperture, the connection with the outer air is controlled through a lost-motion device from the throttle so that the connection is reduced or closed during closing movements of the throttle. A second and permanent connection between the float chamber and the atmosphere may be provided. The float chamber d is connected with the atmosphere at p, q, and with the intake tube in the vicinity of the throttle aperture by a connection o. Mounted on the throttle spindle g is a spring collar t carrying an arm s operating a valve r, whereby during closing movements of the throttle, the aperture p is reduced or closed, and consequently the float-chamber pressure diminished and the fuel flow to the jet b restricted. In a modification, the connection o is cast integrally with the wall of the intake tube, and opens into the latter by a series of orifices, its total effective cross section being adjustable by means of a needle valve.
