Abstract
929,740. Carburetters. F. A. KANE, G. F. OBERRENDER, and E. R. POSNAK. July 20, 1961 [July 5, 1961], No. 26318/61. Class 7(3). A fuel control device for an internal-combustion engine having an intake manifold, a fuel mixture passageway communicating therewith and associated with a carburetter having a float bowl with an air chamber therein and a throttle valve in the passageway disposed between the manifold and the air intake of the passageway, comprises conduit means communicating between the intake manifold and the float bowl air chamber, a valve member in the conduit means movable between a position in closing relation to the conduit means and another position in open relation thereto, electromechanical actuating means operatively connected to the valve member for moving it from one to the other of its two positions and pre-adjusted fixed air vent means in the conduit means positioned between the valve member and the air chamber. An idler needle valve 29 is operatively adjacent the idler orifice 25 the needle valve being operatively movable between the normal open position illustrated and an operative position in closing relation to the orifice 25. The operating system for the needle valve is like that described in Specification 893,455. The valve member 42 is operated by a solenoid 39 this solenoid being similar to the solenoid 39a of the valve 29. The solenoid 39 is operatively energised during the deceleration cycle, simultaneously with the energization of the shut off control solenoid 39a in the manner set forth in Specification 893,455, whereby the valve 42 is operatively opened. The perforations 17 of the tube 15 communicate with the air chamber 18 of the float bowl 19 in a manner (not shown). The low speed orifices 23, 24 and 25 communicate with each other through the channel 26 and communicate through the channel 27 with the float bowl 19 in well known manner. The pipe 51 extends through the air bleed casing 52 (Fig. 2). The size of the opening at orifice 67 can be varied by adjusting the knob 64. It is stated that the solenoid 39a may be removed or disconnected. Specification 853,918 also is referred to.
