Abstract
246,528. V. L. Oil Processes, Ltd., and Lucas, O. D. Oct. 28, 1924. Spray carburettors. - The main fuel jet delivers into a jet chamber open to the atmosphere, and subjected to suction through a fuel-air conduit, and the mixture strength is maintained at the desired value by further subjecting the jet chamber to suction through a compensating conduit placed at a higher level than the fuel-air conduit. The main jet c receives fuel from the float chamber through a duct a and discharges it into a jet chamber C open to the atmosphere through an orifice controlled by a valve c<6>, and in communication with the main air passage b through a conduit b<1>, annular chamber e, and orifice e<1>. Air reaches the jet chamber through a tube c<3> screwed into a plug c<5>, and this plug has radial orifices at c<8> which communicate with the compensating conduit b<2> situated above the conduit b<1>. A slow-running jet is fed with fuel through an orifice c<2>, said jet discharging into a chamber somewhat similar to C and which communicates with the induction passage near the edge of the throttle valve. A manually-actuated butterfly valve controls the air supply. The main air passage may be horizontal.
