Abstract

265,120. Theisen, L., and Theisen, F. H. E., (trading as Thiesen, E. [Firm of]). Jan. 26, 1926, [Convention date]. Fluid friction apparatus; treating substances with liquids. -Gases and vapours are treated with liquids for cooling, purifying and other purposes, while passing between flat or corrugated plates rotated in a conchoid casing. In the apparatus shown in Fig. 1, the plates consist of a number of conical rings 4 connected by flat rings 4‹. The gas enters through the inlet 1 and leaves the casing tangentially. The liquid with which the gas is treated enters by the pipe 5 and is withdrawn through the pipe 6. where additional pressure is required a fan 7, Fig. 3, is arranged at the outer periphery of the discs. Fan vanes 8, Fig. 5 may be made by slitting the rims of the plates and bending up the lugs, or by attaching pieces of sheet metal angle bars, or they may be formed in extensions attached to the discs.
