Abstract
463,461. Filters. BELYAVIN, P. Feb. 6, 1936, No. 3614. [Class 46] [Also in Group XXVIII] The elements of a filter are pressed together resiliently and are separable by flexure under fluid pressure. Fig. 1 shows a filter in which the elements consist of annular discs, the discs 14 being plane and the adjacent discs 15 having their outer and inner peripheries formed as flanges which project upwards and downwards respectively and abut against - the discs 14. Fluid under pressure is forced from the interior to the exterior of the pile of elements and bends the outer flanges of the discs 15 to form the filtering spaces. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the element 15 is dish-shaped. Fig. 5 shows a further modification in which the elements consist of V-shaped strips arranged vertically, each strip having one edge 34 outwardly flanged and abutting against the plane edge 33 of the adjacent strip. Fluid is passed from the interior to the exterior of the filter. In the construction shown in Fig. 1 the elements are arranged round a tubular member 10 which is screwed at its upper end into a member 6 the flange 5 of which is clamped between the upper and lower parts 1, 2 of the casing. The elements are clamped between the member 6 and a shoulder 18 on the member 10. A spring may be placed at either end of the pile of elements and round the member 10. The lower end of the latter may be closed by a plug 20 carrying a magnetized rod 21. Liquid or gas to be filtered enters at 22, passes through the aperture 26 into the member 10 and out through openings 11 and through the filtering elements and apertures 27 into a space 29 communicating with the outlet 30. The elements 14, 15 may be of conical, frusto-conical or part spherical shape and the tube 10 is of square section to provide longitudinal spaces between the tube and the circular elements 14, 15. In the construction shown in Fig. 5, the elements surround a tube 10 having openings 11 leading to circumferential grooves 39.
