Abstract

486,397. Filters. SOC. ANON. SAVARA. Nov. 2, 1937, No. 30022. Convention date, May 14. [Class 46] A filter for liquids comprises coaxial elements consisting of annular blades arranged alternately with perforated discs having annular rim portions, the discs being movable relatively to the blades, and the inner diameter of the annuli of one set of elements being substantially equal to the outer diameter of the annuli of the alternate set, so that the filtering slots are determined each by opposed linear edges of two consecutive elements. In the construction shown, the filter comprises discs 5 and spacers 7 threaded alternately on a bolt 3, with annular cleaning blades 8 encircling the spacers 7. The blades have lugs 12 formed with notches 13 in which rods 14 are engaged, the rods passing through holes in a ring 15. The ring is applied to a lid 2 against which the stack of elements 5, 7, 8 is pressed by means of a ring 16 secured to the bolt 3. At the top the bolt is provided with means whereby it may be rotated. The inner diameter of the discs 5 is substantially equal to the outer diameter of the blades 8. The apparatus shown is for use when the flow of liquid through the filter is from the exterior to the interior. In the case where the liquid flows in the reverse direction, the outer diameter of the discs is substantially equal to the inner diameter of the blades. The lugs 12 of the blades in this case face inwardly.
