Abstract
478,090. Heating water. BUHRING, O. Jan. 21, 1937, Nos. 1841 and 1842. Convention dates, Jan. 22, 1936 and April 30, 1936. [Class 64 (i)] Liquid to be heated by steam is led through a plate b with convergent nozzles c into a chamber d containing Raschig rings or spheres and having lateral openings e<1> for admission of steam ; the heated water passes out through apertures g<1> in a plate g at the opposite end of the chamber, and the total area of the inlet nozzles c is less than that of the apertures g<1>. The chamber d may have a further base-plate k with nozzles l coaxial with and larger than the nozzles c. Heated water may be led to a bell n and outlet h, so that gases separate in a stagnant space m and a portion of water with gases is led off through a pipe o. The total area of the inlet nozzles c is less than that of the inlet pipe. In a modification the liquid' is led downwards, and the outlet plate is spring-supported.
