Abstract

365,513. Purifying water. BOBY, W. V., 62, Brook Street, Grosvenor Square, London, and BOLDRY, C., Brooklands, Holymoorside, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Sept. 11, 1930, No. 27166. [Class 46.] Apparatus for stabilizing water by treatment with CO<2> after it has been softened by the lime, or lime and soda, process comprises a mixing chamber, inlets for the water and CO<2>, and a baffle or deflector on which the mixture impinges whereby the mixture is caused to eddy. In the form shown, the water enters the mixing chamber b by a vertical pipe a with a conical nozzle c, the CO<2> being drawn in through the side inlet. The baffle is in the form of conical member e with a flange g whereby the mixture forms a seal to prevent the escape of gas. In another form, the liquid is projected horizontally against a baffle arranged to one side of the mixing chamber.
