Convention date, May 24, 1935. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Dec. 2, 1935.] [Class 55 (ii)] A gas - washer comprises one or more sinuous channels 5 formed by plates 6 having inclined upper surfaces 44, and streams of liquid 48 under pressure are so spaced apart along the channels that a continuous film is formed to cover the plates completely. The streams are formed by nozzles 36 mounted either upon the base of a tank or upon pipes 37 arranged transversely or longitudinally with respect to the plates. The plates in sectional form may resemble a series of diamonds with concave sides, two successive diamonds having a common vertex ; each plate may be cast in a single piece, and supported by projections which rest on beams mounted within the washer. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also forms of washers with plates without inclined upper parts, and means for evacuating sludge at the lower part of the washer. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
