Abstract

<PICT:0435523/IV/1> <PICT:0435523/IV/2> In developing dye on fibrous materials by an acid treatment, the acid liquid enters the treating chamber in a sprayed condition. Preferably it is sprayed into the treating chamber by means of a spraying nozzle operated by air, steam or gas so as to impinge against a deflecting plate inside the apparatus which prevents the jet from directly striking the goods. As shown, Fig. 1, a spraying nozzle A is fastened to the side of the chamber J. Acid is supplied by pipe E and steam by pipe D. The resultant jet impinges against plate G which may be provided at its lower edge with a channel H to drain off any drops. The flow of acid to the nozzle may be observed in a glass observation tube F, Fig. 3, placed in the acid pipe line and controlled by stopcock L.
