Abstract
406,791. Liquid-fuel burners. SKELTON, SIR R. W., Admiralty, London, and DIGHT, S. R., Gunboat Yard, Haslar, Hampshire. Oct. 12, 1932, No. 28465. [Class 75 (i).] Liquid fuel is supplied by a pipe 7 to a shallow trough 1 where it is vaporized and the vapour ignited with air entering through holes 6 in a perforated wall 5 which is arranged above the trough and is spaced apart from the heating appliance 8 so as to allow the admission of secondary air. The trough 1 may be either pivoted to the wall 5 or slidably mounted on guides so as to facilitate removal of solid deposits, but, in the operative position, the joint between the two parts is substantially air-tight. The pipe 7 is fitted with a control valve and means allowing the insertion of a cleaning rod. The combustion air may be supplied at or at slightly above atmospheric pressure.
