Abstract
406,134. Liquid-fuel burners. METALLWARENFABRIK MEYER & NISS GES., 73, Kampchaussee, Bergedorf, near Hamburg, Germany. March 6, 1933, No. 6791. Convention date, March 5, 1932. [Class 75 (i).] The upper end of a wick b, Fig. 1, arranged in a burner ring a connected to a fuel supply pipe c is surrounded by a gasifying chamber d which is formed with air inlets e on both sides of the wick and communicates by an opening t with a combustion chamber formed by perforated steel or other bodies f, g. The opening t may be varied or entirely closed by a closure device h which may consist of sliding members similar to an iris diaphragm operated by a lever i. A slider movable with the lever i prevents the entrance of air through the slot in which the lever moves. In a modification the wick b is adjustable in an oil reservoir. Fig. 6 shows a lamp comprising two flat wicks k arranged in flat troughs, the discharge from the gasifying chamber to the combustion chamber being regulated by means of flat sliding members l operable by a rod m formed with right and left handed threads.
